The Screamstress - Horror & Paranormal

Top Halloween Candy of the Year

by Rhys on October 20th, 2005

Every year, concoctions come about that are so delightfully disgusting, they must be honored. The Screamstress has narrowed it down to the most revolting three, for your dining pleasure.

#3: Gummy Eyeballs.

Squishy marshmallow center (ack!) surrounded by gummy iris and cornea. I am extremely sensitive to texture, and I despise marshmallow and gummy anything. If that weren’t bad enough, the manufacturer claims, “Texture feels like a real eyeball swirling around in your mouth! ” How would they know that?

#2: Gummy Frog Legs.

Legs ripped cruelly from gummy frogs, complete with crunchy ‘bones’ inside (yes, really!) and sweet bloody dipping sauce. And I thought real frog legs were gross.

#1: This year, the top honor goes to…drumroll…
Ear Wax Candy!!

Perhaps not technically the grossest, but gets major points for creativity and simplicity…two musts of great horror.

What a great idea. Open up the plastic ear, and inside you’ll find a plastic swab to dig around and pull out the browny-yellow goo. Mmm…earwax. Maybe you’re wrinkling your nose now, but wouldn’t it have been the coolest when you were ten?

Awesome! Where did you find those?

I think my only complaint about living in France (so far) is that it doesn’t feel like Halloween time. The French are ruining my favorite holiday! No one has decorated. There’s no isles at the stores dedicated to costumes and candy. There’s no KKK-like ghosts hanging from trees. Blah.

I’m just going to have to drown my sorrows in croissants and creme brulee.

Hi Ingrid! A land with no Halloween? Bummer!! I’m guessing there’s no Wal-Mart over there…I can mail you some of these evil ghosts.

Well, the ear wax candy I already tried of course, then I just looked at different online candy stores to find the ickiest. :) Croissants sound nice, but I do wish you could get some Halloween spirit over there. Oh well, at least you have a kick-ass blog!

Actually, decorations and things might start popping up now, closer to the actual date. I don’t think the French go all out, though. But I’m told they do celebrate it. Guess we shall see when the fateful day is upon us. If no one comes to the door, I’m keeping all the candy. Muahahaha.

Will you be posting about nifty halloween costume suggestions? I’m still looking for a good idea
