Scary Flicks “Taken” and “The Uninvited” Top Box Office

January and February always seem to feature movies that scare the crap out of us. Makes me wonder if we’re just so horrified at what might possibly happen in the coming year that we steel ourselves with scary movies. Any theories on that?
At any rate, “Taken,” the movie about a teen being sold into slavery, and “The Uninvited,” about a ghost terrorizing a young woman,” were tops at the box office this weekend. Well, with goofy “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” wedged right in the middle. Here’s the rundown from Box Office Mojo:

Paul Blart: Mall Cop, $13.87M
The Uninvited, $10.32M
