While rumors about Guillermo del Toro’s The Hobbit were recently debunked, the director has enough projects on the horizon to keep our attention shifted elsewhere. Even though Del Toro is up to his proverbial eyeballs in film, he somehow managed to find time to support the work of budding filmmakers Andy and Barbara Muschietti. Does Guillermo del Toro ever sleep? He’s one of the producers for the new movie Splice, directed by Vincenzo Natali and starring Adrien Brody, Sarah Polley, Delphine Chaneac, David Hewlett and Brandon McGibbon. Splice is making the festival rounds but there is no release date at this time. Of course it doesn’t help that their original distributor, Senator, has closed.
Splice revolves around Elsa and Clive, two rebellious scientists who perform a risky experiment splicing together human and animal DNA to create a new organism. Born as a deformed female, Dren grows into a beautiful but deadly winged human-chimera.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army’s three Disc Special is going to be released on November 11, 2008, and will feature multiple in-depth bonus features. It includes commentary with cast members Jeffrey Tambor, Selma Blair and Luke Goss.
