‘Jennifer’s Body’ Comes to DVD and Blu-Ray + Review

The Diablo Cody (Juno) penned high school horror flick Jennifer’s Body will be released on DVD and Blu-ray December 29 and features an all-new unrated extended cut. I didn’t see the movie in theaters so this was my first viewing of the film and I went straight for the sexy, unrated gore. I’m sad to say I don’t have a Blu-ray player but the features that come with it look decent–including video diaries, deleted scenes, a gag reel and a few documentary featurettes. My DVD featured an audio commentary which I had no desire to listen to after watching Megan Fox …read more

Sam Raimi’s ‘Drag Me to Hell’ Now Available on Blu-ray!

You must be living under a rock if you haven’t seen Drag Me to Hell yet. Sam Raimi’s 2009 horror comedy was his first horror film since directing the utter genius that is the Evil Dead films. The film was a huge success, making over $80 million worldwide.
Loan Officer Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) wants it all but is forced to make a touch decision that evicts an elderly woman from her home. In doing so, an evil curse is placed upon her and she has three days to break it before she is dragged off to hell.
Good for the gross out factor …read more

Halloween Giveaway: ‘Gojira’ on Blu-ray!

Ishiro Honda’s 1954 black-and-white classic, Gojira, is now available on Blu-ray! Classic Media has released the original, complete and uncut monster classic digitally re-mastered in HD. The film is being distributed by Genius Products.
American audiences are usually only familiar with the campy and cawing monster trampling everything in his path. However, the Gojira of the 1954 version is a more philosophical fellow. I always thought it was interesting that the film focused more on the individual stories rather than the monster itself. Gojira is a symbol for the anxiety of the times–casting his dark and dreary shadow over us.

‘Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer’ goes to Blu-ray

“Open your eyes Otis. Look at the world. It’s either you or them. You know what I mean.”
I can almost quote the entire movie of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Not only is it one of the best horror films ever made–just about every industrial band I loved in the early 90’s sampled from the film. Ahhh, memories…
Now you can see Henry in all his Blu-ray glory on September 29, when Dark Sky Films releases this classic. The disc includes a running commentary from Director John McNaughton, deleted scenes and outtakes, documentaries about the making of the film and …read more

You will recognize most of the bonus features from the 20th Anniversary release in 2001, but it also includes a new feature-length documentary, Beware the Moon.  Filmmaker Paul Davis directs the documentary and takes an in-depth look at the making of the movie with the help of Director John Landis and Academy Award-winning make-up artist Rick Baker.  Also new is I Walked With A Werewolf  where Baker talks about his love for all things wolfie.
If you’re lame like me and don’t have …read more
