Stephen King’s "N." Foretells Story of Monsters

by Alexandra on August 20th, 2008

Whether it’s the short story format, the comic-book style art, or the fact it’s just Stephen King, you have to love his new web series, called N.

In Stephen King’s N., a psychiatrist experiences an obsession of one of his patient’s. N. is the name of the patient, who suffers from insomnia and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

The patient claims to have seen some strange occurrences in a field, which contains rocks that bear faces. The secret of what he has seen may be a key to protecting the world from an age old evil.

My first impression of this series was that of a beautifully illustrated graphic novel, presented as web episodes. This project is based on a short story written by King, which will appear in a collection of stories called Just After Sunset, available November 11, 2008. The series includes the notable voice of Ben Shenkman, and stunning artwork by Alex Maleeve, known for his work on NBC’s Heroes.

I admit, I was a thrown a bit by the format, and the extremely short length of the episodes, but the story is compelling.

The first episode aired on July 28, and an episode airs each weekday until August 29. The episodes total 25, with each one lasting about 2 minutes long. In 2009, N. will be released by Marvel as a comic book.

For more info, to download the episodes to iTunes, your blog, or your mobile phone, just head over to the main site: NisHere.com. You can watch the episodes here. In case you have trouble with the player above, you can also go here to see the first episode.
