Special effects master and monster maker Stan Winston died on Sunday due to complications of multiple myeloma, according to a representative from his studio. This is just a small tribute to a man who has made a major impact in movie making, which includes some videos after the jump.
As an Oscar winner for movies such as Aliens, Jurassic Park, and Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Winston also has a long list of credits including work in Predator, Edward Scissorhands and Interview With The Vampire.
Some of his latest work can be seen in this summer’s hit, Ironman, and Indiana Jones And The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull. Stan Winston has touched the lives of many, and his contributions to the world of movie special effects will not be forgotten.
His early work ranges from some 1970’s horror movies such as Gargoyles, and goes well into the 1980s and 1990s with the likes of John Carpenter’s The Thing, and The Island of Dr. Moreau. His work and special touch were a part of all these movies.
