If you’re looking for a film that blends supernatural and religious themes with
a western style, Columbia Pictures has purchased the rights to Preacher, a popular 1990 Vertigo comic series, written by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.
In the comic, Jesse Custer, a preacher in a small Texas town, becomes possessed by a supernatural being called Genesis. Custer, who is now a very powerful being in his own right, goes on a journey across the U.S. to find God.
He travels with a vampire named Cassidy and his girlfriend, Tulip. In their travels, they come across an assortment of friends and fiends. If the film brings along with it the comic’s style, and rich characterization, it will definitely be a hit!
THR reports that at some point, there was a plan for an HBO one-hour series, but it never happened. Judging from the success of HBO’s True Blood, Preacher might have been a ringer. For now, no writers have been selected but Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road To Perdition, Jarhead) is the chosen director.
You can check out some the amazing comic artwork and its cast of characters here.

Director David Gordon Green was chosen by Overture Films to direct Freaks of The Heartland, a horror thriller film, adapted from a 2005 Dark Horse graphic novel written by Steve Niles (30 Days of Night).
The graphic novel of Freaks of The Heartland tells a story of the horror of everyday life.
The main character, a boy named Trevor, has an authoritarian father, a weak mother, and a little six-year old brother named Will, who is forced to live in the barn because of his deformed physical appearance. There are secrets about Will that later lead the tale to redemption and possibly revenge.
Interestingly, some fans of the novel were not happy with the way it ended, however, the infusion of a film may give this story some new life, and a better portrayal of the ending.
Green, who also directed Pineapple Express and Snow Angels, is known for helming coming-of-age tales, set in small rural towns.

Thankfully kids aren’t the only ones who can have fun on the one scary day of the year we have (unless you count Election Day, which is a whole different site…). So here are 5 cool costumes for men, as reported by Ask Men:
Maximus from Gladiator - This is probably one of my favorites, especially if you have the muscular look that Russell Crowe had in the 2000 movie.
