In this Thursday night episode of Fear Itself, a special treat is in order with

Horror hottie Jared Padalecki (photo) of TV’s Supernatural was recently chosen as one of ten stars by TV Guide for a special double issue of the magazine, Hot Bods, to hit the newsstands on Thursday, June 26. It’s full of info about effortless diets, and fun workouts. The stars are revealing their secrets.
As part of this Bod Squad, Jared shares some surprising tips, and albeit ones that won’t work for everyone. All I can say is don’t try this at home.

Based on many of the movies we’ve been seeing these past few months (Cloverfield, The Happening), the world is in peril. Check out the teaser trailer for Disaster Movie here.
Thankfully there is a lighter look at the end of the world (or so I thought) with Disaster Movie, directed by Jason Freidberg and Aaron Seltzer. You can check out the extended promo trailer at the MySpace trailer for Disaster Movie. Note the film is to release nationwide on August 29, 2008. You have to see it, as it’s not what you’d expect!
In Disaster Movie, a group of 20 somethings are confronted with the end of the world via a series of natural catastrophes and disastrous events in one day. The stars of this comedic event are Carmen Electra, Kim Kardashian, Matt Lanter, and Nicole Parker.
So far, the trend in these spoof movies has been to remake scenes from real movies, and make them totally hilarious. I expected spoofs of actual disaster movies, but in this, we see spoofs of Juno, Sex And The City, Iron Man, and The Hulk, among others.
Yes, this sounds like it’s along the same lines as Scary Movie, Epic Movie, Date Movie, and Meet The Spartans. Maybe the movie does have some epic funny disaster scenes, but on first look at the trailer, not so much.

The Great b5media Blog-Off ended at midnight last night. I want to thank
those who sent in guest posts and made donations to the Actors Fund Charity, and those who were following along with the fun. You can donate to the charity at any time. Remember, those of you who submitted guest posts have a chance to win one of two $30.00 prizes!
It was my first blog-off, and in spite of a few glitches, it was so much fun to be able to focus on Screamstress horror. It was really a great experience, because it helped us all get to know more of our readers, and allowed us to join together for a great cause. Now, back to the horror.

Of all the movie tricks we’ve seen so far, I’d say that having three different directors for three acts could be considered quite unusual.
The directing trio of David Bruckner, Dan Bush and Jacob Gentry take us on a fun ride in The Signal, which has been released on DVD this month. I feel this one is a winner, and here’s why.

For some reason, when I was a kid, the word “convention” conjured
up some of the most boring memories…adults dressed in business suits (those slacks, and women in hosiery), sitting around drinking horrible coffee, and eating stale doughnuts. I know because the first convention I ever attended was with my Mom.
Attending a horror convention is likened to being at a Disneyland for horror fiends. They’re full of panels, pitch sessions, readings, cosplay, autograph signings, and stuff galore to take home with you. Here’s a list of the next best horror conventions, with convention dates.
In spite of all the work in the preparation for presenters, there is generally nothing like the experience itself, for presenters and con-goers alike.
- Flashback Weekend - June 27 - 29, 2008 in Rosemont, Illinois
- HorrorHound Weekend - June 20 - 22, 2008, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Fangoria’s Weekend of Horrors - June 20 - 22, 2008, in Secaucus, New Jersey
- Fantastic Fest - September 18 - 25, 2008, in Austin, Texas
- World Horror Convention - April 30 - May 3, 2009 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
- San Diego Comic-Con International - July 24 - July 27, 2008 in San Diego, California
Did I mention the parties?

It’s not that Japanese horror, or J-Horror is bad. Hollywood likes it because it’s easy. We like it because it seems different. Sometimes the scares don’t translate well for us who have been spoon fed the likes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Halloween for years.
For some, ghosts, whether they be Asian ones or the ones from say, Sixth Sense, are just boring. I love a good ghost story, but like many, I was disappointed after seeing The Grudge, because I hated the gimmicky blue cat boy. Afterwards, I was thankful the creators of other films included him, and other blue apparitions so that I knew to instinctively stay away.
