Horror Writer King Gets No Love For Anti-Army Remarks?
Horror writer Stephen King made some disparaging remarks recently about Army soldiers, (or was it the Army as a profession?), and has since responded back with a defense, apparently after a blogger called him on his level of patriotism. In this Fox News video is a portion of his comments with the actual remarks in transcript.
It’s not really clear why he would say something like this, and the host and guests in this video are having fun lambasting him over his comments more than anything. It’s not the first time a celebrity has inserted their proverbial foot in their mouths, and clearly won’t be the last.
One aspect that had many concerned is that he was talking to a group of school students at the time. It’s no secret that a best-selling author makes more money than your average Army soldier, but it makes you wonder what he meant by the not being able to read part…
Although King has many fans of his writing and subsequent movies, his politics are not looking that great right now over this. I have to wonder what those Army soldiers who read his books are thinking after this incident. Actually some have stuck up for the guy, and pointed out that he has freedom of speech just like the rest of us. That’s what I call class, Matticus!
You can read Noel Sheppard’s take, which is what prompted the new video above. Noel also has the video there which has King’s actual comment in somewhat of a context as he’s talking to students.
