"Goosebumps" Getting Big Screen Treatment
We talked about horror for kids, and now one of our favorite picks, Goosebumps, may be coming to the big screen, courtesy of Columbia Pictures.
The writing team of Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander are in talks to create a screen adaptation, based on the books written by R.L. Stine.
Keep in mind, there are some Goosebump movies that have gone straight to DVD, however, this will be the first big screen release.
The books themselves feature stories that are a take on many of the classic horror and sci-fi movies.
It should be interesting to see the adaptation, as Stine’s book series contains over 50 tomes. Notably, Stine also has a video game coming out in the fall based on his latest 12 book series, called Goosebumps In HorrorLand.
There is also a plan in the works regarding the choice of actors. They plan to cast young unknowns for the main cast, with some veteran actors placed in the supporting, much like the casting of the Harry Potter films. So, who will be the next Daniel Radcliff, Robert Pattinson, or Emma Watson? We’ll have to wait and see.

AHH, I freaking LOVE Goosebumps! I was so excited when they started showing it on Cartoon Network this fall (which I’m praying they do again this year).. Now they just need to do something with “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”…
