Lionsgate is Having ‘The Last Exorcism’

Lionsgate won the battle to distribute the Eli Roth produced film, The Last Exorcism. If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard of this one before–well, you have. They renamed the film, which was previously titled, Cotton. Personally, I’m not a fan of either title, but I’ll still curious to see the faux documentary feature about a disillusioned minister who lets a film crew record his his last exorcism.
“After a career spent helping the devout through prayer and trickery, Rev. Cotton Marcus invites a film crew to document his final fraudulent days as an exorcist. Soon his faith is truly tested …read more

Exclusive: Interview with ‘Hellboy’s’ Peter Briggs and Storyboards from ‘Panzer 88′

Peter Briggs is up to his ears in supernatural ooze. He’s currently working on Mortis Rex, which tells the story of a disgraced Roman war hero who comes face to face with an otherworldly beast. Last week we learned that the Hellboy co-writer is gearing up for Panzer 88, a character-driven, supernatural thriller–this one set inside a German King Tiger fleeing Russia during World War II. The soldiers also happen to be fleeing a centuries-old, malevolent creature that has other plans for them.
I recently had the opportunity to talk with Briggs, who divulged further details on Panzer 88’s story and …read more

Peter Briggs Takes on Supernatural WWII Horror in ‘Panzer 88′

Panzer 88: it’s not just for rivetheads anymore. It’s actually a movie that Hellboy co-writer and Mortis Rex helmer Peter Briggs is directing that is being described as a supernatural thriller set in World War II. I’m a little obsesso when it comes to WWII related anything, so this definitely has my attention.
In an interview with Bloody-Disgusting, Briggs described the story behind his new film: “Panzer is another supernatural thriller: basically a character piece set in a German King Tiger tank in Russia in World War 2. It’s five guys in a tin can, and something’s trying to stop them …read more

Game Review: ‘Mass Effect 2′ – Mass Appeal?

My gamer fiend Marcus has bestowed upon me a review for the game that all the cool kids are playing right now…
Have you ever had one of those days? Commander Sheppard, chisel-jawed hero of the first Mass Effect, has. After assembling a crew of the galaxy’s finest and becoming the first human spectre he defeated Saren and his army of Geth and saved the universe. After all that you’d think he’d have earned a holiday. Think again. Unfortunately for the good Commander, BioWare have other ideas.

Mass Effect 2 continues the trilogy by picking up directly where the first outing left …read more

Ti West Tells Haunted Tale in ‘The Innkeepers’

If there’s one director I couldn’t be more anxious to see more from, it would be Ti West. He blew me away with his satanic, 80’s throwback The House of the Devil and wooed me with his web series, Dead & Lonely. Now he’s dishing up a story about a haunted hotel in The Innkeepers.
West wrapped a deal he made at Sundance on Sunday with Dark Sky films financing/producing and Larry Fessenden’s Glass Eye Pix. He commented that he intends The Innkeepers to be “a truly terrifying” follow-up to The House of the Devil. Lensing starts in Connecticut this Spring. …read more
