More Sasquatchploitation in ‘The Legend of Grassman’
Director siblings Tyler and Dennie Meyer have crafted what they are describing as part 30’s jungle adventure, part 80’s slasher and part 70’s Bigfoot documentary in their contribution to the Sasquatchploitation genre, The Legend of Grassman.
Since Dread Central has already provided the weed/Woody Harrelson jokes, I’ll refrain (dammit), but you can check out the low-budget flick’s trailer below for more details. The film is based on the legend of the Grassman, which is the nickname of a creature reportedly sighted in Ohio.
The directors recently spoke to Monster Island News and had this to say about their creature feature:
“When it came …read more
Dead Girls Don’t Say No and Have an ‘Exquisite Corpse’
February 11, 2010 by Alison
Upon hearing that there was a new film titled, Exquisite Corpse, I was excited to think that someone was bringing Poppy Z. Brite’s novel of the same name to the big screen. When watching the trailer I was met with something entirely different. Scott David Russell’s film starring Steve Sandvoss, Nicole Vicius, Guillermo Diaz, Tessa Thompson, and Larry Cedar, will be playing later this month at the EFM (European Film Market) and has nothing to do with a homosexual serial killer, cannibal, necrophiliac (not quite). Dammit.
Nicholas is a young neuroscientist who is obsessed with two things. He discovered a serum …read more
‘Nightbreed’ Screening at HorrorHound Weekend!
February 8, 2010 by Alison
And in other holy sh!t news, an uncut version of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed will be screened at HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis, which runs March 26-28! Please, please, please let this mean that a DVD and Blu-ray are in the works!
For those of you unfamiliar with Nightbreed’s back story, let me explain. Basically, the studio screwed Barker by forcing him to release an edited version of his original cut. Poor marketing and a cruddy video release made the film fade away. Thankfully, fans supported it and it was elevated to something of a cult flick. Hardcore Barker fans wondered for years …read more

Creepy Critic: Review for Neo-Giallo ‘Yellow Future’
Cory Callahan’s Yellow Future clocks in at around nine minutes and aside from being an incredible throwback to Italian cinema’s giallo period, it’s a remarkably polished film that achieves a lot in such a short amount of time. Callahan’s Kaleidoscopic eye and original soundtrack sets the tone for a futuristic story about a madman killing actresses in Los Angeles. A determined detective is out to stop the killer, who believes he is a true artist and murder is the highest art form.
In the opening scene, Callahan immediately establishes his connection to giallo cinema by showing the masked killer slipping into …read more

February 3, 2010 by Alison
Gustavo Heranandez’s The Silent House achieves what Hitchcock wanted to do for his 1948 film, Rope. The Spanish horror film was shot in one long continuous take. Check out the teaser trailer below which has been interspersed with pseudo Polaroid shots and is looking pretty darn interesting

Trailer for Animated Zombie Flick ‘A.D.’
February 2, 2010 by Alison
I love the undead just as much as the next horror fiend but it feels like the zombie market has been saturated with the same old stuff lately. Perhaps Ben Hibon’s animated zombie flick, A.D., can help stir things up a bit.
There aren’t many plot details to uncover at this point but A.D.’s creator, Haylar Garcia, recently spoke to ZombieInfo about the film:
“One day I realized that almost all zombie films, though cool, seemed to have such a modest scope. I suddenly wanted to write a screenplay that had the feel of a huge action flick coupled the macabre charm …read more
New International Trailer for ‘Clash of the Titans’
Check out the new international trailer for Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans redux set to release March 26. Lots of beasties, Liam Neeson as Zeus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades. Oh and it stars the really boring Sam Worthington. Sorry ladies, I think this guy is a total snooze fest and I really hope he doesn’t play Vlad in the poorly titled, Dracula: Year Zero.
“In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised …read more
