New International Trailer for ‘Clash of the Titans’

Check out the new international trailer for Louis Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans redux set to release March 26. Lots of beasties, Liam Neeson as Zeus and Ralph Fiennes as Hades. Oh and it stars the really boring Sam Worthington. Sorry ladies, I think this guy is a total snooze fest and I really hope he doesn’t play Vlad in the poorly titled, Dracula: Year Zero.
“In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised …read more

MTV Wants to Make a ‘Dawn of the Dead’ Series

That title should really read, ‘MTV is Bored and Wants to Rape One of My Favorite Films.’ Or, would you settle for ‘Does MTV Really Play Music Anymore?’ I think they all apply.
MTV is currently scheming ways to turn George A. Romero’s classic zombie flick, Dawn of the Dead, into a TV series. There are no other details at this time but isn’t this enough to make you want to Hulk smash everything in sight? MTV has stated that they’re interested in producing more things horror but are they doing it well? I didn’t see My Psycho Sweet 16 but …read more

‘The Thing’ Prequel Begins Filming in March

Universal’s prequel to John Carpenter’s classic, The Thing, is set to start filing this March in Toronto. Universal Pictures and Strike Entertainment will be working with director Matthijs van Heijningen to direct the film from a screenplay by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer (Platinum Dunes’ A Nightmare on Elm Street). Is anyone else crying yet?
From Heisserer’s blog:
“Matthijs and I are hard at work with the very smart team at Strike on the prequel. We are all so much in love with Carpenter’s film, so protective of it, we’re doing all we can to avoid stepping on its toes. I …read more

More Delays for ‘The Wolfman’

Universal Pictures’ The Wolfman producer Scott Stuber spilled the beans with Total Film Magazine regarding some ongoing delays the production has seen, which is making me very nervous about the finished product. If they can pull this film off it’s going to be amazing, but if not–I have little faith for the other Universal remakes they have on tap.
Stuber had this to say about the special effects which are being done by An American Werewolf in London’s Rick Baker. “The visual effects work was so complex that some of the stuff wasn’t ready. There were so many textures we had …read more

New One Sheets for ‘The Crazies’ Remake

Even though I will never be able to forgive Brett Eisner for attempting to remake The Brood, I’m actually kind of interested in seeing his remake of The Crazies, which Overture Films is releasing February 26, 2010.
There are some new one sheet images floating around which I caught on Dread Central today. Check out this one which features a nasty looking pitchfork. Mmm. Pitchfork.
The remake of George A. Romero’s 1973 film stars Timothy Olyphant, Radha Mitchell, Joe Reegan, Danielle Panabaker, Joe Anderson and Justin Welborn. The original film tells the story an accidental release of a military biological weapon in an American …read more

‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ Reshoot and ‘Friday the 13th 3D’ Updates

Brad Fuller updated the official Platinum Dunes blog today with some news about the Nightmare on Elm Street reshoots and the upcoming Friday the 13th 3D flick.
Reviews for the remake were mixed after a round of test-screenings and PD set out to shoot additional scenes. Apparently, the scene involves a diner where Nancy works but there was no clue as to whether this would clear up any plot confusion. Fuller wasn’t ready to let the cat out of the bag just yet. “I don’t want to get specific about what we are shooting, but suffice to say we heard you. …read more

Director Announcement for ‘The Brood’ Remake. And I just Died Inside a Little More.

Breck Eisner, who will be doing The Crazies remake, has been tapped as the new director for The Brood remake, originally directed by my boyfriend David Cronenberg. The L.A. Times had this to say:
Eisner has signed on to a film that’s kind of new but kind of familiar (and scary): “The Brood.” That’s the David Cronenberg horror flick about a woman who telepathically communicates with her group of mutant children, instructing them to act out violently. Eisner’s on board to direct the new version, which is written by Cory Goodman for financier Spyglass Entertainment.
Oh god oh god oh god–why!? Isn’t …read more

MTV Takes on ‘Teen Wolf’

Everyone’s favorite high school wolf is heading back to class for MTV’s reimagining of the 1985 film Teen Wolf. MTV revealed full casting and pilot details for the new series which will focus heavily on the romance but still attempt to retain some of the good buddy humor that made Michael J. Fox a hit in the high school film about a coming of age wolf.
The series features Tyler Posey, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed and Dylan O’Brien with the pilot penned by Jeff Davis of Criminal Minds fame. This dramatic thriller/comedy revolves around Scott McCall (Posey), a dorky high school …read more
