Dead Girls Don’t Say No and Have an ‘Exquisite Corpse’

Upon hearing that there was a new film titled, Exquisite Corpse, I was excited to think that someone was bringing Poppy Z. Brite’s novel of the same name to the big screen. When watching the trailer I was met with something entirely different. Scott David Russell’s film starring Steve Sandvoss, Nicole Vicius, Guillermo Diaz, Tessa Thompson, and Larry Cedar, will be playing later this month at the EFM (European Film Market) and has nothing to do with a homosexual serial killer, cannibal, necrophiliac (not quite). Dammit.
Nicholas is a young neuroscientist who is obsessed with two things. He discovered a serum …read more

Tim and Eric to Host World Premiere of ‘Birdemic: Shock and Terror’

Tim and Eric, of the Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, will be hosting the world premiere of Birdemic: Shock and Terror at The Cinefamily in Los Angeles on February 27. There will be a Q & A with Birdemic’s mastermind, James Nguyen and stars Alan Bagh and Whitney Moore after the screening.
If the hilarious and noisy trailer wasn’t enough to reel you in then perhaps this little quagmire will. In a press release received today, it was revealed that Birdemic’s distributor, Severin, will be “transforming the theater into a temporary aviary with epic displays of Birdemic special effects, …read more

Trailer for the French Thriller ‘Mutants’

IFC Films is offering David Morlet’s French thriller, Mutants, on VOD February 10.
Sonia (Hélène de Fougerolles) and Marco (Francis Renaud) are a couple who find themselves caught in the middle of a viral pandemic that turns humans into creatures. When they seek shelter from the “mutants” Marco becomes contaminated and is eventually transformed into a monster. Sonia has to fight not only for her own life, but the life of their unborn child and protect herself from the man she once knew and loved.
I’m curious to find out what these creatures actually are. As much as I love zombies, I’m …read more

‘Birdemic’ Trailer is Really a Bad Harsh Noise Music Video

‘Birdemic’ Trailer is Really a Bad Harsh Noise Music Video

Indie DVD outfit, Severin Films, has taken on the rights to James Nguyen’s Birdemic: Shock and Terror and while the trailer is absolutely ridiculous, the screeching noise at the end of it is music to my ears.
Nguyen shot the film over the course of four years and describes it as a “romantic thriller” in the midst of a homicidal bird invasion in Northern California. Apparently Tippi Hedren, lead actress in Hitchcock’s The Birds, has a cameo in the film.
After Nguyen got rejected for an official screening slot at Sundance, he took matters into his own hands and spent eight days …read more

Sasquatch’s Heart (and Hair) is in Pennsylvania

Sasquatch’s Heart (and Hair) is in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania will never cease to amaze me. In Philadelphia, you can find yourself in a gentrified neighborhood but within a few short blocks end up in a complete war zone running for your life. In the surrounding Philadelphia area, cutesy Victorian row homes are replaced within miles by dilapidated shacks, cars on cinder blocks and a few chickens running around the front yard. Cue banjo music here. Apparently, Pennsylvania is also a hot spot for Bigfoot sightings, with Clearfield and Jefferson counties accounting for most of Pennsylvania’s run-ins with the furry fiend.
Eric Altman, director of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society (respect …read more

‘YellowBrickRoad’s’ Directors Talk Behind the Scenes

I’ve been looking forward to Jesse Holland and Andy Mitton’s indie horror, YellowBrickRoad, which will make its premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival in Park City, Utah (January 21-28). Cassidy Freeman, Clark Freeman, Anessa Ramsey, Lee Wilkof, Laura Heisler and Alex Draper star as the expedition group looking for answers to something horrible in the forest, but the forest finds something horrible in them.
The synopsis:
“One Morning in New England, 1940, the entire population of Friar New Hampshire – 572 people – walked together up a winding mountain trail and into the wilderness. They left behind their clothes, their money, all …read more

New One Sheets for ‘The Reeds’, ‘Lake Mungo’ and ‘The Violent Kind’

The After Dark Horrorfest 4 lineup is almost upon us (opening January 29) and The Reeds and Lake Mungo both have some new one sheets to celebrate with.

The Reeds takes six friends on a deadly weekend boating trip through the Norfolk Broads and Lake Mungo is a supernatural mystery surrounding the drowning of a young girl. I’ll be anxious to find out if this one is as similar to Twin Peaks as it sounds. Bob wouldn’t like that.
Bloody-Disgusting also premiered this new one sheet for The Violent Kind, which makes its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. In the film …read more

‘The Thing’ Prequel Begins Filming in March

Universal’s prequel to John Carpenter’s classic, The Thing, is set to start filing this March in Toronto. Universal Pictures and Strike Entertainment will be working with director Matthijs van Heijningen to direct the film from a screenplay by Ronald D. Moore and Eric Heisserer (Platinum Dunes’ A Nightmare on Elm Street). Is anyone else crying yet?
From Heisserer’s blog:
“Matthijs and I are hard at work with the very smart team at Strike on the prequel. We are all so much in love with Carpenter’s film, so protective of it, we’re doing all we can to avoid stepping on its toes. I …read more
