February 1, 2010 by Alison
Syfy wants to show you what happens when fairy tales grow up by reinventing classic stories as part of its Saturday night TV movie franchise. The contemporary reimaginings of tales like Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel & Gretel will be two of the five titles that kicks off the new series on February 27.
“It’s exciting to take a treasured brand and put our own sideways spin on it,” said Thomas Vitale, executive vp programming and original movies at Syfy. “By turning familiar timeless stories inside out, we’re creating an entertaining new genre for our popular Saturday night movie franchise,” …read more
Robert Englund Guest Stars on ‘Bones’
Nightmare on Elm Street star Robert Englund will guest star in an upcoming episode of the forensic crime-drama series, Bones. The series stars David Boreanaz (Buffy, Angel) as Detective Booth and Emily Deschanel (Spider-Man 2) as Dr. Brennan, whose nickname is ‘Bones’.
Englund will star in a new episode as a janitor at a high school where a murder takes place, according to STYD. The crime actually takes place at Booth’s old high school, which means I’m sure it will be filled with lots of annoying pseudo-witticisms to tell the background story and so on.
I gave Bones a try. It’s really …read more

January 21, 2010 by Alison
Back in August I told you about AMC’s plan to turn Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic, The Walking Dead, into a live action television series. Well according to the boys at Bloody-Disgusting, it sounds like AMC loved the pilot and is giving it the green light! The series is written and directed by Frank Darabont (The Mist). Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will executive produce.
The Walking Dead graphic novel series follows survivors of a zombie apocalypse as they struggle to readjust to their new lives and stay alive. Kirkman’s story boasts strong …read more
‘Dexter’ Animated Web Series
January 5, 2010 by Alison
I started watching the first season of Dexter because everyone in my Twitterverse has been going off about the season finale of Season 4. So far I’m feeling lukewarm about the whole thing and I’ve nearly completed the first season. I agree wholeheartedly with my brother who says Dexter is “a really good network show with more gore and lots of sexytime.” Yeah, that about sums it up. The writing is only so-so but I’ve adored Michael C. Hall since Six Feet Under so I think it’s time to overlook Dexter’s shortcomings and let down my defenses.
To keep the Dexter …read more

It looks like Season 3 of Alan Ball’s popular show will be loaded with lots of hot fresh meat. This is no insult to the show, I’m totally digging it–but let’s just call it like it is already.

If ‘Buffy the Vampire’s’ Faith and Buffy Had a Baby…
December 30, 2009 by Alison
I’ve always been fascinated by twins and other strange anomalies of nature. When Buffy the Vampire star Alyson Hannigan (Willow) posted this picture on her Twitter account, I got totally spooked.
Alyson wrote of the picture, “If Eliza and Sarah were combined into one person…” Yep, that looks like Alyson standing next to a Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Faith (Eliza Dushku) hybrid. And what are the chances of randomly meeting someone like that? Bizarro world!
Maybe Joss Whedon can recover from Dollhouse sadness by casting this chick in a new Buffy script. It seemed to be the only show that didn’t …read more

How I Met Your Mother star Joe Manganiello has been cast in a recurring role on HBO’s True Blood. He’ll be playing Alcide Herveaux, a ‘hot and sexy alpha male werewolf.’ Yes please. Apparently he’ll be another love interest for Sookie, but she said I could borrow him from time to time.
Manganiello joins a slew of newbies on the show including, Cooper Huckabee as Sam’s dad, J. Smith-Cameron as Sam’s estranged mother, Alfre Woodard as Lafayette’s mom and more.
There has been news of bit part casting, including actors Shannon Wells, C.C. Sheffield (The Bold and the Beautiful) and Natasha Alam.
So, is …read more
More New Blood for ‘True Blood’
True Blood Season 3 news keeps on rolling in! It was reported yesterday that James Frain and Alfre Woodard will be joining the cast in recurring roles and it looks like Tara and Lafayette will have a new piece to their puzzle.
James Frain, star of The Tudors and 24, will be playing Franklin Mott, who according to EW’s Ausiello Files is “…a tall dark, and handsome vampire who seems to have an “immediate and torrid” connection to Tara.” Apparently his character in the books is a sugar daddy type so we’ll see how Alan Ball decides to adapt this character for …read more
