The Reaper Awards Honors Horror on Home Video Tonight
Dread Central teamed up with Home Media Magazine to host the Reaper Awards 2009 and the winners will be announced tonight at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The ‘Grimmys’ will be awarded to the best DVDs and Blu-ray discs of the year. This includes cult classics, modern blockbusters and direct-to-video favorites (wholly underappreciated!).
Some of this year’s judges included a selection of the finest fiends from places like Fangoria, Bloody-Disgusting and Rue Morgue.
Voting was up to the fans, who chose their favorites between September 1 and October 1. Here’s a little bit more about tonight’s venue:

What’s in a Name?

I tend to give everything a name, even inanimate objects. My iPod is named Ghost, my hard drive is Ogre and my favorite pair of heels are The Grady Twins named after the twins in The Shining.
When I inherited this website I wasn’t sure I loved the screaming girl in my banner but she’s starting to grow on me. However, she needs a name and that’s where you come in. Vote below and help me decide!

I want to welcome all new and current readers to Screamstress. Horror is on the uptake, despite the surge in gas prices, and all those crazy reality shows. What am I saying? The industry has even scared up a few horror reality shows. Go figure! It’s time for a quick Screamstress poll! There are those of us who make sure we catch the latest horror film each week, and yet ratings for paranormal series such as Ghost Hunters have literally cracked the ratings meters at Sci-Fi Network.
Ghost Hunters weaves a precarious mix of paranormal investigation with interpersonal drama, and seems to cause love and hate among the critics.
