Famous Monsters of Filmland Convention on its Way!
February 2, 2010 by Alison
A little over a month ago, Famous Monsters of Filmland announced that they were rising from the ashes once more after closing the book back in 1983–191 issues deep. This was truly a sad day for fans, many who had followed the magazine since its inception in 1958 with Warren Publishing. Editor Forrest J. Ackerman enthusiastically approached every issue about the classic monsters he loved like the Wolfman and King Kong. Eventually he branched off to interviews with the people behind the scenes, including makeup artists and screenwriters–you know, the people who often go overlooked. The magazine obviously showed that …read more

It seemed that only a few sites were privy to the gorgeous, over sized clamshell that had VHS junkies like myself foaming at the mouth. Well this morning I just about wet myself after picking up this tip at Fear of the Dark–the VHS is now available for purchase in a VHS & DVD bundle!

‘Ghosts Attack’ the iPhone
December 14, 2009 by Alison
In the 1960’s thirteen scientists were accidentally transported to a parallel dimension after a failed teleportation experiment, never to be seen again. The company that employed these scientists is now dispatching remote controlled Rovers to explore and conquer the new empire. Yeah, that didn’t really happen but Tarver Games’ new paranormal iPhone game, Ghosts Attack, wants you to pretend that it did.
The game uses world map and GPS coordinates to create new game levels that allows players to enter an alternate reality gaming experience (ARG) that corresponds to the real world. Basically, you get to tool around in a Rover …read more
‘Jennifer’s Body’ Comes to DVD and Blu-Ray + Review
The Diablo Cody (Juno) penned high school horror flick Jennifer’s Body will be released on DVD and Blu-ray December 29 and features an all-new unrated extended cut. I didn’t see the movie in theaters so this was my first viewing of the film and I went straight for the sexy, unrated gore. I’m sad to say I don’t have a Blu-ray player but the features that come with it look decent–including video diaries, deleted scenes, a gag reel and a few documentary featurettes. My DVD featured an audio commentary which I had no desire to listen to after watching Megan Fox …read more
