Warren Publishing, a group known for creating some amazing horror anthologies, has become the subject of a “cinematic tribute” at the Los Angeles event, Monsterpalooza. Warren’s magazine, Creepy, will be a highlight of the convention, which runs from April 9 – 11 in Burbank, California. Back in August I told you about AMC’s plan to turn Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic, The Walking Dead, into a live action television series. Well according to the boys at Bloody-Disgusting, it sounds like AMC loved the pilot and is giving it the green light! The series is written and directed by Frank Darabont (The Mist). Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will executive produce.

Zombie Roomie is a zom-com webcomic about John, an average Joe who needed to split the rent with someone and got more than he bargained for when George, a zombie, became his roommate. The first episode of Halo-8’s new illustrated-film Godkiller comes to DVD this Tuesday, Oct 6th. The film will have a limited theatrical release in January 2010, but Halo-8 will be splitting the movie into three limited edition shorts for DVD, released bi-monthly until it hits theaters. Meltdown Comics (Hollywood) will host a free screening on Wednesday, October 7. Space is limited so RSVP to secure free admission.

Todd McFarlane posted this page on Twitter from Haunt–a new comic slated for an October release by Image Comics. It’s his new collaboration with Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. The story focuses on a pair of brothers, one living and one not, who unite in one body. Expect a lot of action. Fans of Invincible and Spawn will recognize Greg Capullo and Ryan Ottley’s awesome layout and pencil skills in Haunt. McFarlane is doing inks and the story is written by Kirkman.

Variety reported that Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead will soon be a live action television series! AMC is teaming up with Frank Darabont (The Mist) who will write and direct the series.
I agree with Joel Stillerman, AMC’s senior veep of programming, production and original content, who said “The world (in ‘Walking Dead’) is portrayed in a smart, sophisticated way.” Stillerman has said that the series will stay faithful to the graphic novel. Let’s hope so!
There is no studio attached to the project yet, but I’m sure we’ll be hearing lots more about this soon.

After a two year wait, Warner Bros. Pictures is finally releasing their version of Dominica Sen’s Whiteout, the live action comic book adaptation starring Kate Beckinsale, Gabriel Macht, Tom Skerritt, Columbus Short, Alex O’Loughlin. Joel Silver is one of the producers.
Kate Beckinsale is Carrie Stetko, a lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica, who is investigating the continent’s first murder and becomes involved in a shocking mystery.
