Upon hearing that there was a new film titled, Exquisite Corpse, I was excited to think that someone was bringing Poppy Z. Brite’s novel of the same name to the big screen. When watching the trailer I was met with something entirely different. Two new clips arrived from Martin Scorsese’s latest film, Shutter Island, which is one movie I am very much looking forward to. The ominous and almost Gothic setting is perfect for Laeta Kalogridis’ story about two U.S. marshals who investigate the mysterious disappearance of a murderess from a hospital for the criminally insane, that looms like a fortress on the island.

And in other holy sh!t news, an uncut version of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed will be screened at HorrorHound Weekend in Indianapolis, which runs March 26-28! Please, please, please let this mean that a DVD and Blu-ray are in the works!

Syfy wants to show you what happens when fairy tales grow up by reinventing classic stories as part of its Saturday night TV movie franchise. The contemporary reimaginings of tales like Little Red Riding Hood and Hansel & Gretel will be two of the five titles that kicks off the new series on February 27.

Michael Winterbottom’s crime-thriller, The Killer Inside Me, sold to IFC Films for around $1.5 million this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival. Given the film’s controversial buzz this seems like the perfect fit for IFC who also picked up Lars Von Trier’s Antichrist at Cannes in 2009. The film stars Casey Affleck, Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Simon Baker, Bill Pullman, Ned Beatty and Elias Koteas. IFC Films will be releasing the movie in late summer through its theatrical and VOD platforms.

Warren Publishing, a group known for creating some amazing horror anthologies, has become the subject of a “cinematic tribute” at the Los Angeles event, Monsterpalooza. Warren’s magazine, Creepy, will be a highlight of the convention, which runs from April 9 – 11 in Burbank, California. In March, Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle will begin filming 127 Hours, his adaptation of the true-life story of Aron Ralston (played by James Franco). The film details the hiker’s grueling five-day ordeal while being pinned under a boulder. Anyone forced to amputate their own arm with a dull knife deserves his own movie.

Back in August I told you about AMC’s plan to turn Robert Kirkman’s zombie comic, The Walking Dead, into a live action television series. Well according to the boys at Bloody-Disgusting, it sounds like AMC loved the pilot and is giving it the green light! The series is written and directed by Frank Darabont (The Mist). Gale Anne Hurd of Valhalla Motion Pictures and David Alpert of Circle of Confusion will executive produce.
