Are You Attending a Twilight "Breaking Dawn" Party?

by Alexandra on July 15th, 2008

Participating Barnes & Noble booksellers will feature “Breaking Dawn” parties, which are designed to herald the midnight Stephenie Meyer's book "Breaking Dawn" release of Stephenie Meyer’s new book, Breaking Dawn. Friday night, August 1 is the date!  The theme for the party is Prom, so all participants are welcome to wear prom attire. Party activities will include vampire trivia, giveaways, and other fun activities.

This is the fourth and final tome in the Twilight series of books, which follows the tale of teenager Isabella Swan, her vampire love interest, Edward Cullen, and her best friend Jacob.

Is Your Local Bookseller Having The Party?

To find out if your local B&N will participate, click here to search for your local store, and then check their “events” section. You can also pre-order the book here.

For those who’ve been to B&N Harry Potter “midnight release” parties, you probably remember how much fun they can be. Some stores allow you to place a hold for the book upon arrival, and then at midnight, you’re allowed to purchase the book right there in the store.

What To Wear

If you need ideas for costumes/prom attire, judging from the images seen thus far of Bella and Edward, I suspect the girls will want to wear either red or black, or attire seen in some of the Twilight production stills.

The theme at ours is Masquerade. There’ll be a Biting Booth too, whatever that is…

Alicia…the Biting Booth sounds a bit sinister! I hope my local B&N has the same theme. :D

Patricia, I hope you have lots of fun with your Aunt. Please come back and tell us how it turned out!

What about a party at Borders? Is that prom too?

The party at Borders does not have a prom theme. That theme appears to be a B&N corporate theme.
The Borders theme is “Twilight to Dawn a party with a bite’. It is rather generic but gives stores a chance to be creative. Borders parties will vary from store to store but all should have trivia, debates and a costume contest. All Borders parties start at 9:30. At our store there will be line tickets given out when the store opens at 9 AM, but the first few tickets in line will be raffled before midnight so everyone gets a chance to be first in line.

I took my daughter to a thrift store and she found a prom dress that was pretty cheap. I would try Goodwill and Salvation Army stores. Good luck, and have fun!

Im going to the b&n twilight masquerade prom in riverside, and i have a costume and stuff, i couldent get a mask on time so im going to do it makeup style where you just draw on the mask with some halloween makeup and lots of glitter ^^ my costume is clothes that i already had, i have a shiny ankle length skirt with a multi-colored corset top that go just perfect together. Im also writing a oneshot for the writing contest, i cant WAIT, im so excited i just cant hide it!! WHOOOOO

i am gonna sound so retarded but what is a oneshot? I have an outfit too but it isn’t exactly bedazzling, it definitly doesn’t fit the part of Rosalie. Its actually the plain version of Rosalie but i don’t think anyone could pull it off unless they are drop dead gorgeous and have a lot of money. I have a red tank top with and opened circle on the back and i have a small jacket that i am wearing that is black and crocheched. I have a pair of tight jeans that i am wearing that show off my curves and i am getting some kitten heels tonight. i have to go out and get some pale makeup so i can look like a vampire. I can’t get colored contacts but i have very dark brown eyes so maybe that will work. any other ideas to help me with my outfit?

Nicole, if I am not mistaken a oneshot is a short fanfiction story no longer than one chapter. Your outfit sounds really cool! I read somewhere that someone is putting on light face powder, shimmery stuff, and darkening their dark circles under their eyes. The only other ideas I have would be to have perfectly manicured hair and nails (I just mean that the nails are painted and the hair looks really good). Hope that helped some! I’m so excited–I’m going as my own vampire, b/c I want to be one :p

thanks a lot! i just got the shoes today and i saw everything in the mirror and it looks amazing. i have to work on my hair and makeup so i can try to look like rosalie. i thought more about the dark eye situation and i know that their eyes get dark when they are thirsty so that’ll be perfect. thanks so much and have fun at the party!!!!!
