A Different Kind of Horror
October, besides containing the two most wonderful days of the year—Halloween and my birthday—also has another great purpose: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
You can donate money to the cause, but there are all sorts of ways you can help out besides financially. Sites like the one listed above provide a number of opportunities. There are charity walks and races you can join. I enjoy knitting ‘chemo caps’ which are then mailed to different charities supporting breast cancer patients. If you are a woman or a man who loves a woman, educate yourself. Encourage others to get a mammogram. Or just light a candle for someone you love.
This villain is scarier than any horror film monster, which makes the survivors and fighters that much more amazing.
