The Emmys Howl For ‘Dr. Gangrene’
December 7, 2009 by Alison
Werewolf Of Nashville from the Go Green With Dr. Gangrene series has been nominated for an
Emmy by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, at the 24th Annual Midsouth Emmy Awards. Go Green is part of a PSA campaign that runs on the local CW station in Middle TN–passing on environmental/safety messages to all the little kiddies between their Saturday morning TV programs.
Writer & Director Cameron McCasland was nominated in the “Short Form Writer” category. This is the second Emmy nomination for McCasland, who was also nominated for his work on the Go Green With Dr. Gangrene campaign. Green is the new black–get it. In Werewolf Of Nashville, long running horror host Dr. Gangrene (portrayed by Larry Underwood) takes his pet werewolf out for a walk in the park. The mad doctor reminds people to pick up after their pets, with the tag-line “It’s not what you don’t do, it’s what you do-do.” The Go Green with Dr. Gangrene series is a continuing collaboration between Underwood and McCasland. The classic monster and horror backdrop is a fun and effective way to get an important message across. You can check out the PSA below.
The 24th Annual Midsouth Emmy Awards will be announced during a live telecast in Nashville on January 30, 2010 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Go here for a full list of this years nominees. And don’t forget to show Dr. Gangrene some love by visiting his website.
