Nick Cave and Warren Ellis Score for ‘The Road’ Soon Released
Don’t you judge me. I don’t care if The Road isn’t true horror, it’s doom and gloom enough to
capture my attention and lalala Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are doing the score for the film. In case you didn’t already know, I spontaneously erupt at the mere mention of Nick Cave. Add Warren Ellis and stir. Kapow!
The Road is based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy who also wrote the glorious No Country for Old Men. The film stars Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee as father and son finding their way through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. You can catch it in the theater November 25.
Ellis and Cave’s original music for The Road is out digitally November 23 on Mute. The physical release will follow on January 12–my birthday. I expect presents people. According to the press release, the music is everything you would expect and is “violin and piano heavy.” These guys are no stranger to the film biz. You can pick up a copy of White Lunar which is a compilation of their previous scoring work. Don’t get me started on how awesome The Proposition is.
