"Poltergeist" Remake’s Possible Director

September 2, 2008 by Alexandra

1982's "Poltergeist" A remake of the 1982 film, Poltergeist is in the works, courtesy of two writers, and now possibly a director, Vadim Perelman. Perelman is best known for directing the film, House of Sand and Fog, which stars Ben Kingsley and Jennifer Connelly.

Whether you love or hate remakes, you can’t deny the cultural impact this film has made.

This is the film that taught us all never to build a new subdivision on top of a cemetery, never have your television on that “static channel”, and never, ever have a doorway to another dimension in your child’s bedroom closet.

With the two writers already on board, Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, we may see the fruits of their labor on this soon.

Besides the cultural aspects, and the fact this is a remake, could there also be a concern regarding a Poltergeist Curse? After all, there was a murder, a death, and the revelation that real human skeletons were used in the swimming pool scene in the original film. Perhaps the only curse is that this is going to be another remake.

Eeep, I see this being another “Amityville Horror”….which we know didn’t turn out so good. I’m not a huge fan of “Poltergeist” myself, but I do feel like they should leave this one alone.
