Underworld: Rise of The Lycans Images About!

Underworld fans should be extremely happy. The saga of the secret history of vampires, their role as Death Dealers and their war with the Lycans actually begin in Underworld: Rise of The Lycans. Images from Underworld 3 are out. The film releases on January 23, 2009. Check out the images in the video which also include some quick shots of the Underworld panel at Comic-Con.

You can also see the actual stills at Blackfilm.com. Bill Nighy reprises his role as Viktor, the powerful vampire elder from the first two movies, and Michael Sheen returns as Lucian, the leader of the Lycans, who are an ancient clan of werewolves.

Centuries ago, the Death Dealers held the Lycans as slaves, and we saw a bit of that in the first film. This third installment tells the same story, but from the Lycan’s point of view. The film also stars Rhona Mitra as Sonja, Lucian’s secret lover and Victor’s daughter.

Interestingly, the character of Selene (Beckinsale) was tasked to save the future, while it seems Sonja (Mitra) may be the key to saving the past.

Although I will miss horror hotties Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman from the first two films, the story of two ancient races fighting for survival is quite compelling.

Whether this one hearkens us back to the good old days of the first film from 2003, we’ll have to wait and see. Notably, actor Sophia Myles of Moonlight fame portrayed one of the vampires in the first movie, and if you look closely, you can see her with fangs bared.
