Bloody Mary’s "Legend" Comes To DVD In September

August 19, 2008 by Alexandra

Director John Stecenko’s The Legend of Bloody Mary is set for DVD release on September 16, 2008. It follows a college student named Ryan (Paul Preiss) who is plagued with grief from his sister’s disappearance 8 years earlier, after playing the game, Bloody Mary.

Ryan’s girlfriend (Irina Costa) and a former professor (Robert J. Locke) become involved, and the scares ensue as they attempt to discover the mystery of this horrific legend.

The movie was filmed in Los Angeles and Long Island, NY, and other stars in the film include Rachel Taylor and Caitlin Wachs.

Most of the actors in this film seem to be unknowns, and the plot sounds a bit complicated, however, there may be some redeeming qualities here.

What Is Bloody Mary?

Bloody Mary is considered an urban legend, and perhaps a character from folk stories. In the stories, she is usually a witch or ghost that will appear in a mirror after calling her name three times. Sometimes she is referred to as Mary Worth.

Growing up, our take as children on “calling Mary” was that we went into a dark closet after pouring ketchup on our leg or arm, closing our eyes tightly, and reciting “Bloody Mary, come and get me” three times. Sure enough, when you opened your eyes, you’d see the image of a green hag staring back at you. Was this the power of suggestion, or the real thing?  You decide.
