"The Signal" is Making Us Crazy

51V8v2ALEwL._SL500_AA240_ Of all the movie tricks we’ve seen so far, I’d say that having three different directors for three acts could be considered quite unusual.

The directing trio of David Bruckner, Dan Bush and Jacob Gentry take us on a fun ride in The Signal, which has been released on DVD this month. I feel this one is a winner, and here’s why.

In The Signal, cell phones, radios and televisions are emitting a transmission that makes people crazy. This was one of those movies that gave me a hopeless feeling when I first saw the preview last year. This was only because the premise sounded a bit old hat. I do admit, had they somehow squeezed into the trailer the fact that there were three acts to the movie, it would have been at the top of my “go see now” list. Must have been that pesky transmission…

Rotten Tomatoes has given this one a 5.8 out of 10, and a 55% on the tomato meter. Movie goers over at IMDB have said they both love and hate this film. So the next step is to see the film. Will it make me feel as if I’m getting more for the money? Three movies in one always sounds like a deal to me.

Of note, you can see an interesting video interview of the three directors over at Everyday Yeah.

The Signal stars Anessa Ramsey, Sahr Ngaujah, A.J. Bowen, and Matthew Stanton, and is available on DVD and Blue-Ray.
