Kids Afraid of The Dark? Horror TV You Need To See!

April 7, 2008 by Alexandra

Kids like to be scared and you have to admit, horror TV series like these, although a bit frightening, are based on some cultural references to which all kids should be exposed. How can you learn about W.W. Jacobs’ The Monkey’s Paw later in middle school without first seeing the episode, The Tale of The Twisted Claw, on Are You Afraid of The Dark?

Here are some of the best and most intelligent series for adolescents, (and grown up kids too):

Goosebumps, The TV SeriesGoosebumps – A popular TV series based on horror fiction novellas, written for kids 12 and under by R.L. Stine. Known also for their unusual illustrations, the books were at times given a cold welcome from some schools administrations due to having a bit of violent content.

However, the books were successful in that they produced board games, more books in the series, and even inspired some other horror book series. You can catch Goosebumps on Saturday nights, on Cartoon Network.

Are You Afraid of The Dark?, The TV Series Are You Afraid of The Dark? -A group of teens, called The Midnight Society meet at a secret location in the woods. A member of the group tells a scary story, and the story is presented to the viewer. The stories are generally about ghosts, witches, curses, or haunted houses.

You can watch episodes of this fun series on The N network, on May 14, 2008.

Eerie, Indiana, The TV Series Eerie, Indiana – A boy named Marshall Teller moves with his family to the town of Eerie, Indiana. Soon he makes friends with a boy named Simon. Marshalland Simon begin to notice bizarre things about the town, including some urban legends such as Bigfoot, and other oddities. Together they solve some of the mysteries of the town.

Eerie has a very serious tone, similar to The X-Files, and built a huge fan following. Although the series no longer airs on TV, you can see all the episodes on DVD.
