#7: Fingerprints in The Entity.
Barbara Hershey plays Carla Moran in this 1981 chiller, a single mom desperately trying to better her and her children’s lives.

Suddenly, she is the victim of mysterious, violent attacks by an unseen force, most of which happen in her bedroom. When the attacks go beyond merely physical to include sexual violation, the horror moves to a sickening level.
To make it worse, nobody believes Carla, positing that i’s all in her head, the result of so much stress in her life. The doctors don’t believe her. Even her best friend doesn’t believe her.
Even the viewer is left unsure, somewhat, until one scene that rates as the movie’s most terrifying: Carla is attacked in bed, stripped and helpless, as the entity squeezes her breasts. The evil force cannot be seen, but the indentations its fingerprints leave in her breasts are clear, and horrifying.

This film, though without a speck of gore, works so well because it examines every woman’s deepest fear (rape) and one of every human’s deepest fears: not being believed.
This is YET ANOTHER horror film someone is attempting a remake of. I doubt it will be successful, mainly because most of today’s horror films suck and the industry desperately needs to grow a pair and produce films of 1970 and 80s daring and openness. Maybe they should look to this film for a clue.
