13 Biggest Brats of Horror, #13
Growing up with a horror obsession, it just so naturally happened that when a killer/psychotic/disturbed kid headlined the movie, I thought they were cool as heck.
Kids with evil powers, kids with evil intentions, kids with serious mommy and daddy issues…well, let’s just say they make those screaming little turds who throw mashed potatoes at each other in Bennigan’s, when you’re trying to enjoy a night of adult conversation, look like angels.
So it is with great fanfare that I introduce The Screamstress’s latest countdown: the 13 Biggest Brats of Horror.
And we start with…
#13: Charlie McGee of Firestarter

Charlie wasn’t a major brat. I mean, she wasn’t evil or anything: she just had a gift for setting things on fire. Like buildings, and cars. And her mother. But only when Charlie was mad. So…just don’t piss her off, and you should emerge sans-crispy.
I developed a mega Charlie/Drew Barrymore crush after I saw this movie (and read the Stephen King book) as a wee kidlet, and would stand in front of the fan to make my hair blow around like hers did during a pyro-assault. I stared hard as heck at people who annoyed me, but I could never make them catch on fire, no matter how hard I tried.
But it was fun, and Charlie was truly my hero, which is why she deserves a spot on this esteemed list.

Yes, I just found your blog today. I haven’t scrolled through all of b5media yet ;)
Firestarter is my all-time favorite Stephen King book. Hands-down. And there are others I really loved. The movie was good, but geez, people are really missing out by not reading the book :D
I spent my time trying to make paperclips and things fly. LOL

I love Firestarter so much! And I did exactly the same thing…spent hours trying to make things move. I even stood in front of the fan so my hair would blow around like Charlie’s did in the movie. :)
I think me and you would get along great!
